Optimist (floating) Pessimist (trapped) I wanted to create a head that will float in a frame. I achieved this by using embroidery threads which lightly support the head in its place. When it was finished, a friend who came for dinner said he saw the head as trapped. A whole discussion followed, some friends saw the head as floating, some as trapped. I found it intriguing especially when considering the personalities involved. Their perception whether it was floating or trapped corresponded pretty much to their personalities, hence the double title... polystyrene head, embroidery threads and beads in wooden frame
